Representation has increasingly become a focus in mainstream media in recent years The CW is, in many ways, leading the charge with its portrayals of LGBT characters and Legends of Tomorrow star Caity Lotz says that is, in part, what makes her role as Captain on the series so important.
At first, I remember everyone being like ‘Wow! She’s a woman, and she’s the leader of the group! It’s this big deal!'” Lotz said. “And I’m like ‘Yeah, of course she’s the leader! Duh!’ But I think another big deal about it is that she’s a bisexual woman. And if you think about, specifically, bisexual representation on television, and how much it’s lacking. And to see a female bisexual character as the lead, the captain of this ship, is I think a really really nice step in progress for representation.”
Part of that representation includes not just telling viewers that a character is bisexual, but showing it, too, and that’s something Legends of Tomorrow does. As recently as Legends’ recently-completed third season audiences saw Sara involved with both Constantine (Matt Ryan) and Ava Sharpe (Jes MaCallan) even as she and the rest of the Legends dealt with the threat of the time demon Mallus.
Great news for all us Caity fan’s Legends of Tomorrow is getting a season 4. So a big congrats to Caity, the cast and crew.

Network Gives Early Renewals for Next Season to “Arrow,” “Black Lightning,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “Dynasty,” “The Flash,” “Jane The Virgin,” “Riverdale,” “Supergirl” and “Supernatural”
April 2, 2018 (Burbank, CA) — The CW Network has given early renewals to ten of its primetime series for the 2018-2019 season, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW.
“As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday through Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come,” said Pedowitz. “And I’m especially happy that we’ll continue to work with the incredibly talented casts, producers, and writers who create the series our fans are so passionate about.”
The series being ordered for the 2018-2019 season include second seasons of the electrifying freshman hit BLACK LIGHTNING and DYNASTY, which recently saw the debut of Nicollette Sheridan as Alexis Carrington, as well as new seasons of ARROW (Season 7), CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND (Season 4), DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (Season 4), THE FLASH (Season 5), JANE THE VIRGIN (Season 5), RIVERDALE (Season 3), SUPERGIRL (Season 4), and SUPERNATURAL (Season 14). Specific premiere dates for each series will be announced at a later time.
The CW also recently announced it would expand its primetime schedule to six nights, Sunday-Friday (8:00-10:00pm ET/PT), beginning in October 2018.

SEEING DOUBLE — With the timeline barely stable, the Legends must tackle two anachronisms at the same time to try and keep Mallus at bay. Sara (Caity Lotz) and Rip (guest star Arthur Darvill) team up to stop Grodd (guest star David Sobolov) from going after a particular target leaving Nate (Nick Zano) and Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) to stop Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) from changing her future. Meanwhile, the Legends think they have found a way to destroy Mallus, but they will have to create an uneasy alliance with one of their enemies.

How about this: “I think we achieve peak Legends in the last two episodes,” EP Marc Guggenheim says, teasing that the penultimate hour includes two of the crazier things the show has ever done with Barack Obama being attacked by Grodd and John Noble playing himself circa the shooting of Lord of the Rings. “Both moments are just so wonderfully joyous. They’re some of the best stuff we’ve ever done on Legends.” As for the finale, which he describes as “balls-out craziness,” expect many familiar faces to return — both in the hero and villain department. “It really feels like a real finale in that respect and we really draw together almost every thread and character that we’d established over the course of the third season, and yes, that includes Beebo,” Guggenheim says. “Beebo will make a phenomenal return that is quite awesome.”
collider Though Legends of Tomorrow is finishing up its (super awesome) third season in another two weeks, it won’t be the last that we’ll see of Caity Lotz‘s Captain Sara Lance in the Arrowverse this year. As we were told exclusively today, Lotz will be making an appearance on the season finale of Arrow on May 17th. There are no more details to that storyline as of yet (since Arrow is just now returning from a short hiatus tonight), which means there is a lot to speculate on.
*Before we get to Arrow though, I need everyone to know that not only is the Legends‘ penultimate Season 3 episode titled “Guest Starring John Noble” (which, you know, he is), but it will feature Grodd trying to attack a young Barack Obama. If you aren’t watching this show, what are you doing with your life?

Back to Arrow — The first thing that comes to mind regarding Sara’s return to Star City is Laurel, and how Quentin is dealing with trying to rehab Earth-2/Black Canary. One wonders if it’ll be a moment of acceptance for Sara, or will she swoop in to slap her dad and remind him this isn’t really his daughter? (Poor Quentin has been through a lot). A less likely possibility is that something from Legends‘ storyline (either the Darhks or something regarding Mallus) will play into Arrow. But as we’ve seen in the past, Arrow is better off when magic isn’t part of its plot.
As for Sara, she’s had a really great character arc on Legends this year, not only in assuming control of the Waverider (which makes so much sense), but also in her battle with her dark nature through Mallus. And, it’s been really nice to see her open up a little more with Ava, and working on having a real relationship (after a number of historical flings, of course, as well as a quick Constantine hookup). Her role on Legends has changed so much from being Black Canary (and then White Canary) on Arrow though, it’ll be interesting to see how she will fit back into their world outside of a full crossover, and what it will mean for that team.

THE POWER WITHIN — When Mallus’ power over Sara (Caity Lotz) resurfaces, she unwittingly becomes the bearer of one of the Totems. Rory (Dominic Purcell) must conquer his dark side in order to wield his own Totem power to help save the crew. Meanwhile, Agent Sharpe (guest star Jes Macallan) notices that something is wrong and recruits someone unorthodox to help
SEEING DOUBLE — When Ava (guest star Jes Macallan) disappears, Sara (Caity Lotz) and Ray (Brandon Routh) set out to find her after some prodding from Time Bureau agent Gary (guest star Adam Tsekhman) and a disturbing truth about Ava. Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) tasks Zari (Tala Ashe) with helping train Rory (Dominic Purcell) in controlling his own Totem power. Meanwhile, Nate (Nick Zano) and Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) set out on a mission that goes awry when they pair with an unlikely person to try and get a Totem.
